School gives to food bank

Lewiston High School’s annual food drive started Dec. 7, and ends right before Christmas break on Thursday, Dec. 17.

Last year, the Lewiston School District’s students, teachers and families raised over 1,500 pounds of food for the local branch of the Idaho Food Bank. William Autrey at LHS said they hope to raise even more than last year to support the community.

As times become harder for many community members, it’s important that Lewiston High School steps up and donates what we can to those struggling this year.

Boxes are available in each LHS classroom and in the front of the school for student donations of non-perishable items such as food, socks, and blankets. As teachers are competing against each other in the food drive, they each have an assigned box in front of the school for donations. Teacher competitions include Julie Burke and Jessica Shawley against Brendan Burns and Shawn Nilsson for Dec, 7-11. Jeff Karlin and Kevin Driskill compete against John Schaper and Jolynn Hobson Dec. 14-17.
