Recently, LHS’s DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) team competed in the state competition and will go on to compete in nationals. The matches were hosted Feb. 6-8 and were held in Nampa, Idaho
The competition was split into two sections: a multiple-choice testing section along with a written and oral presentation. Teams or individuals had to write and present a solution to prompts given to them in front of three judges. They wrote out their response while being timed and presented it.
“It was stressful, but fun at the same time.” said Kaylynn Osburn.
Osburn, a junior at LHS, has competed in DECA all three years of her high school career and plans to continue through her senior year. Osburn competed in Business Services Operation Project, taking home second place.
She was not the only one to do so, in fact, Cade Hill and Brooklyn Eldridge took first place in Merchandising and decision-making. Eighteen students have qualified and will be going on to compete in nationals in the coming months. Annika Huff, Hannah Huffman and Ryland Schnell all scored the highest out of State in their tests.
Solana Inzunza, who ran for state office, was elected as vice president of marketing for Idaho DECA.
