Summer activities for a fun-filled break
The Snake River is the perfect place to take a swim and get some fresh air; it isn’t too cold or fast so you can relax when swimming or floating. There are many things to do on the river like paddle boarding, swimming, floating and tubing. There are tons of hidden (and not-so-hidden) beaches you can find along the river, one of which being Hells Gate State Park. There is also a designated swimming area marked with posts to show good spots and depths for swimming without being in the same area as boats.
Just two and a half hours north of Lewiston, you can find Silverwood: a theme park in Coeur d’Alene. There are a myriad of attractions that vary from water rides to roller coasters. There is also a water park side of SIlverwood that has tons of water slides. Silverwood is a great place to hang out with friends and family for a day. There are rides, an arcade, food courts, carnival games and even shows put on by the staff. Right across the Blue Bridge is the Aquatic Center – a family indoor-outdoor waterpark. Inside you can find swimming lanes and a kids’ pool. Outside is the lazy river, wave pool, splash pad, and three water slides. The Aquatic Center offers season passes that If none of those ideas speak to your heart, simply taking a walk has tons of beneficial factors, like strengthening your bones, improving muscular endurance, and improving cardiovascular fitness, but it can also be very calming to take a walk in nature. There are walking trails right by LHS ranging up to three miles. The levy trail behind Kiwanis Park is also an ideal spot for a walk, showcasing riverside views and wildlife.
