Lewiston’s Main Street Grill broke the Guinness World Record for the longest Philly Cheesesteak sandwich Aug. 26.
The former World Record holder was Ohio’s Steak Thyme, with a 600-foot-long Philly Cheesesteak. Main Street Grill made a 700-foot-long Philly Cheesesteak by creating a train of 722 sandwiches, using 390 lbs of steak, 72 gallons of cheese and 320 lbs. of peppers and onions.
Corporate Executive Chef Frank Webster proposed the idea to promote Main Street Grill’s No. 1 sandwich sold, known as The Philly.
“We wanted to do something that would bring national attention to Lewiston, Idaho,” Webster said.
With the promotion, Main Street Grill and Happy Day Restaurants raised a total of $10,000 to donate to the Boys and Girls Club of the Lewis-Clark Valley.
