Bengals beat Vikings, former #1 seed in Idaho, Sept. 5

A second look at the first home game of the season

The Bengals returned home after a devastating loss to Post Falls on Aug. 30th and played the Coeur d’Alene Vikings on Sept. 5. At the time the Vikings were ranked the #1 team in Idaho. You can watch video highlights of the game here.

The game was scoreless until the halfway point of the fourth quarter. The Vikings’ scoring broke the drought but missed an extra point, making the score 0-6, the Vikings lead.

On the kick to the Bengals, #6 Nathan King returned the ball to the end zone, tying the score. The Bengals made their extra point attempt, taking the lead by one point. The score was 7-6 at the end of the fourth quarter, with the Bengals leading.

Later, the Bengals scored again but failed at a 2-point conversion, spacing themselves another six points, making the score 13-6. The Bengals sealed the win by intercepting the ball with only one and a half minutes in the fourth quarter. The Bengals ran down the clock and finished the game with the win and a score of 13-6.

The Bengals’ next game will be an away game against the Clarkston Bantams. This game will be on Friday, Sept. 13, and is the rivalry game between the two schools known as The Battle of The Bridges.
