Student leaders at Lewiston High School will create a lip dub before the Battle of the Bridges pep assembly on Friday, Sept. 13, as a pregame celebration.

In the lip dub video, students will line up along the school walls cheering while a camera follows a few people who are lip-syncing to a song (or a mix of songs). The last lip dub done by LHS students was done at the old high school campus before 2020.

At 1:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, LHS students will be released into the main building from their classes. The lip dub video crew will start at the gym hall entrance doors. They will go from one end of the school to the other and back. Students are urged to dress up and cheer. They should be prepared because they may be handed confetti or balloons to throw at the camera as it passes.

The mix consists of the songs “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” by Johnny Cash, “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield, “Timber” by Pitbull and Kesha and “Roar” by Katy Perry, according to LHS ASB.

Once the lip dub is done, the school marching band will play the fight song and everyone will file into the gym for the Battle of the Bridges pep assembly.

“Showing up is important,” said Assistant Principal Jolyn Hobson. “Skipping school is not okay. Students are always required to attend activities during the regular hours of a school day.”

Students who skip the assembly can receive the following consequences: lunch detentions, Saturday School and even In School Suspension, according to Hobson.
