Varsity football players celebrate their first ever victory at the inaugural game of the P1FCU Sports Complex.

The final Lewiston football home game took place on Friday, Oct. 25 at the P1FCU Sports Complex. The team honored 21 players for Senior Night.

Seniors playing in their final home game included Drew Alldredge, Cole Arlint, Noah Carpenter, Jayden Cobley, Phinneaus Crow, Nathan King, Wyatt Laney, Treyton Landman, Ty Lewis, Xander Logsdon, A.J. Loomis, Gabe Mettling-Perry, Blaine Moss, Alex Regan, King David Rhodes, Ben Schaefer, Kyler Schumaker, Brock Thompson, Weston Thompson, Andrew Tomeh and Jeremy Yoder. Friday was also the last home football game for the following cheerleaders: Emily Brannan, Natalee Gilmore, Shayla Gottschalk, Jossalyn Harris, Graci Hepburn, Savannah Swallow, Paisley Seidel and Jovi Tyler.

The Bengals took on the Lakeland Hawks (ranked third in the state for the 5A division). Lakeland defeated Lewiston with a final score of 34-14. The Bengals’ loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

They may have taken a few defeats, but there were an incredible number of victories and accomplishments as well. They beat the previously undefeated Coeur d’Alene Vikings 13-6. Before this game, the Vikings had a winning streak, but they were unable to push the scores so high when facing the Bengals.

It has been a successful year for the boys varsity football team, full of new records and overall higher rankings. It may have not been an ending win for the seniors, but it was full of memories and a season to remember.

This Friday, Nov. 1, Lewiston will head out to face off against Twin Falls High School at 6:00 p.m.

Adviser’s note: Corrections were made to this story on Oct. 31, 2024. The story originally omitted the names of Senior Bengals A.J. Loomis, Gabe Mettling-Perry and King David Rhodes. The originally story also incorrectly stated that the Bengals would play against Preston High School on Nov. 1.
