The Lewiston High School girl’s soccer team wrapped up their season with a bang. The girl’s soccer team scored 17 wins and five losses this season under coaches Scott Wimer, Brittney Allen, and Katelyn Daugherty.
“Getting to play and score on the new field was super cool because I didn’t know if I would ever get to, and then we made history by getting to be the first Lewiston soccer team to play on the new field; overall it was an amazing experience,” said Eve Steele, a senior at Lewiston High school.
The varsity girls’ soccer team won third in the state from October 22 to 27 at Idaho Falls. The first game they played in the state was against Woodriver; they won by 5-0. The second game was against Pocatello; they lost by 0-5. The last game that got Lewiston High School girl’s soccer to win third at state was against Middleton; they won by 3-1.
“I was very proud of myself when I could recover the ball and keep the other team from scoring,” said Asia Roberts, a senior Lady Bengal. “I felt like I played my hardest and left it all out on that field. I couldn’t imagine a better way to end my time as a Bengal soccer player.”
They also won the Outstanding Sportsmanship Award from IHSAA for working well together at the state level.
Myla Mee, also a senior, said one of her goals this year was to build sportsmanship on the team.
“My goal was making relationships with the girls on my team and keeping the team safe, instead of a toxic place, for all the girls,” Mee said.
This award and the team’s season record highlight the players’ competitive spirit and commitment to their team.
