The Lewiston High School Golf Team, coached by Austin Hall and Jessica Shawley, went to state, where the tournament was held in Burley, Idaho, at the River’s Edge Golf Club on the Snake River. The band sent them off on October 9th, had a practice tournament on the 10th, and state was on the 11th and 12th. The team returned on the 12th.

The girls who went were Cora Lott (11), Shelby Arellano (11), Kalen Kelly (11), Destiny Ellenwood (12), Josey Hemphill (9), and Jazmyn Smith (12) as an alternate. Kayden Orton (12) was the only boy who went after he placed 4th at districts for the team.

In the individual round for the girls, Lott tied for 32nd place, Arellano tied for 30th, Kelly for 48th, Ellenwood tied for 46th, and Hemphill placed 43; for the boys individual, Orton placed 52nd. For the team rounds, the girls placed 9th overall.

To round off the season, Coach Shawley, the boy’s coach, stated, “We had a great turnout and look forward to building upon our success from this year with a strong group of underclassmen who will be returning.”

Coach Hall, the girl’s coach, ended recapping state by saying, “This experience at a state tournament will be very helpful for the girls moving forward into the next season, as we will return four out of our six varsity players”.
