The most recent Golden Throne rivalry games took place Jan. 26, 2024, in the LCSC Activity Center. The varsity ladies’ game had a final score of Clarkston 66, Lewiston 37. It was a tough loss for the Lady Bengals, but this winter they are ready to come back better than ever.

How will the ladies’ team fare this time around? For insights into this year’s game, here’s a review of the January match-up, which was live-streamed by the LHS Sports Broadcasting students.

By the end of the first quarter, ending at 22 minutes, the Bantams were in the lead with a score of Clarkston 13, Lewiston 11. The game started off close, with the Bantams only up by 2 points; and it remained close for the following second quarter.

At the end of the second quarter, 40:02, the Bantams were still in the 6-point lead, with the score being Clarkston 25, Lewiston 19.

By the end of the third quarter, the game was no longer close. The Bantams had an 18-point lead against the Bengals, with the score being Clarkston 48, Lewiston 30.

During the fourth quarter, Addy McKarcher put up 2 points on the board, making the score Clarkston 48, Lewiston 32. Further into the fourth quarter, the Bantams scored again and again on the Bengals, bringing the score to Clarkston 55, Lewiston 32, with 4:44 minutes remaining in the game.

At 1:21:38 Emery McKarcher got a foul called on her, and at 1:22:37, the Bantams called a timeout.

Going right back into the game, Aneysa Judy of Clarkston Bantams went for a layup that was blocked by Emery McKarcher. At 1:24:24, Bengal Avery Lathen went up for a layup and got fouled. At 1:24:56, Clarkston’s Kendall Wallace had two free throws. Wallace only made one out of the two, putting the score at Clarkston 56, Lewiston 32, with 3:31 minutes remaining in the game.

Getting down to the final minutes and seconds, Addy McKarcher fouled Wallace. Judy shot two free throws, making the score Clarkston 58, Lewiston 32. With 2:12 seconds remaining, Lewiston’s Taylor Holman put up 3 points on the board, changing the score to Clarkston 58, Lewiston 35.

As time wound down, the players felt the rush to put as many points up as possible. Presley Dempsey of Clarkston put up 3, keeping the Bantams ahead with a 26-point lead.

With 1:41 minutes remaining in the game, Holman fouled, giving the Bantams two free throws. Clarkston made one of those shots, with the score now being Clarkston 62, Lewiston 35.

With less than a minute remaining in the game, the Bantams had two free throws once again, but only made one out of two.

In the game’s final seconds, the Bengals scored, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. The final score for the ladies’ varsity game on Jan. 26 was Clarkston 66, Lewiston 37.
