Students and staff recognized Counselor Appreciation Week at LHS Feb. 3-7.
Lewiston High School celebrated its own counselors, Kaylin Roby, Christina Cahill, Olivia Wilson and Leslie Halliday, along with the College and Career Adviser Sarah Willmore, the school Registrar Kari Kerns and the Counseling Center Secretary Sheila Hart.
Some ways students and staff showed their support and appreciation for the counselors included delivering them coffee and donuts to brighten their day and decorating the counseling center to inspire joy around the area. Cards written by students to each counselor were hung around their rooms to remind them of their importance in the school.
LHS counselors work hard every day to make a difference in the school, and the lives of the students they work with. These counselors do their best to uplift students and create an overall positive atmosphere.
While there are many benefits to the job, Roby said she most enjoys “getting to know students over four years” and “seeing them grow through academic, social, and emotional challenges.”
It’s important to take the time to recognize and support the counselors who leave a vast impact on the school environment. Many students get through the school day relying on the help of their counselors.
“They’re always open when an issue occurs,” Rylie Moody, a former office aide, said. “They have helped me go through school with grace and they have relieved so much stress off of my shoulders.”
