The Lewiston High School boys and girls bowling teams attended the Northern Invite Tournament on Feb. 14 and 15 at Orchards Lanes in Lewiston, as well as the Idaho State High School Bowling Tournament in Meridian on Feb. 18 and Boise on Feb 19.
The girls’ team, made up of Taryn Fowler, Dakota Knieriem, Jaci Louis, Mercedes Moore and Phoenix Post, won first place in the team event at the Northern Invite, with Fowler placing first in singles and Louis placing fourth.
The boys’ varsity team placed seventh in the team event, including Wyatt Hall, Colton Kernan, Jaxson Knieriem, Max Mendenhall and Michael Parks, according to TournamentBowl.
At the Idaho State Tournament, the boys’ team placed eighth in the team event, made up of Gavin Frisbee, Wyatt Hall, Kernan, Knieriem, Mendenhall, Parks, Kaden Stout and Blake VonTersch.
The girl’s team, made up of Andrea Baird, Fowler, Knieriem, Louis, Moore and Post, placed second in the team event and won first place as state champions. Post also placed second in the singles state championships.
They also competed in the Western Invite on Jan. 18 in Boise with Frisbee, Wyatt Hall, Kernan, Jaxson Knieriem and Mendenhall on the boy’s varsity team, and Baird, Dakota Knieriem, Louis, Moore and Post on the girl’s varsity team.
The girl’s team placed third place overall in the Baker event, with Louis placing third in the singles event with 522 series and Post placing 10th with 454 series. Hall also placed seventh in the singles event with 616 series, according to Randy Buttenhoff, the LHS bowling coach.
The bowling team also competed in the North Idaho Districts on Jan. 26 in Coeur d’Alene, with Bryce Hall, Wyatt Hall, Kernan, Parks and Stout on the boy’s varsity team, along with Michael Earl as an alternate. Their team placed third overall in the Baker event, and Parks placed third in the singles, according to Buttenhoff.
Another girls varsity team, made up of Fowler, Dakota Knieriem, Louis, Moore, Post and Jesyka Sarbacher, placed second overall in the Baker event, with Post placing third in singles, Fowler placing sixth, and Louis placing seventh.
