This Tuesday, Mar. 10, through Thursday, Mar. 12, LHS Mock Trial is competing in a state competition at Ada County Courthouse in Boise.
The first night of competition is based more on individual scoring, whereas the second night is more focused on group scoring.
Tristan Smalley is a junior competing in Mock Trial. Before leaving for Boise, he said said he is most looking forward to “collaborating with other people.”
“I am nervous about speaking in front of real [court] judges,” Smalley shared.
Amiah Bremenour (junior) is also competing in the state competition. This is her first time with Mock Trial. She came in with some information on law and the process as she’s taken classes at LHS and the Criminology 101 and 202 classes on campus at LCSC.
“I have learned so much,” Bremenour said. “I mean, the first day of practice I did not understand it nearly as much as I thought I would have but I was able to improve enough to win the Star Attorney award at Regionals. I’m hoping I can walk out of Mock Trial with enough experience to get rid of some anxiety to feel confident in a courtroom when I become a real attorney.”
