The school board changed the elementary school boundaries in the Lewiston School District on Monday, Feb. 10, after a board meeting. Members made the decision based on input from the community from their Jan. 27 work sessions at Camelot Elementary.
The district changed school boundaries in response to the growing population and the changes in enrollment, as explained in the Q&A page on the district website. The hope is that the class sizes will remain balanced by changing the boundaries.
The district notified parents about the change in a letter sent through USPS. The placement letter included a timeline for families who wanted to submit their preference for their child’s school.
Actively enrolled students will have the option to remain at their current elementary school until they graduate, according to the Q&A page. Still, new students will enroll in a school based on the revised boundaries. Siblings of active students starting elementary school in the 2025-2026 school year will also attend a school based on the new outlines. For open-enrollment students, the process will remain the same.
Maps of the new revisions can be found on the district website or in the photo gallery displayed bellow.
