Bengals Varsity Tennis has been kicking their competition! Their schedules have been busy with everyday after-school practices, and multiple matches each week. Their next match will take place today, April 21, and they will be taking on the Coeur d’Alene Vikings at the LHS courts for a double header. Tomorrow, on Tuesday, April 22, the varsity team will be traveling to Clarkston High School for another match.
Softball
The LHS Bengals Varsity Softball team has been working hard this season. In last week’s game, La Grande defeated the Bengals with a final score of 1-2 and 7-17 on Saturday, April 12th. The varsity athletes include Shelby Arellano, Jenna Barney, Kaitlyn Fowler, Laila Hernandez, Beccah Hogaboam, Victoria Lockhart, Darby Litchfield, Mayonna Miller, Taren Nuxoll, Anna Ready, Hailey Robins, Ashland Schnell, Corrina Scoville, Morgan Thayer, and Ava Thorson. Their next game will be Saturday, April 26, at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Baseball
The Bengal Boys’ Baseball season is in full swing, and they have played 23 out of 25 games this season. According to MaxPreps.com, their current record is 10-13, with their most recent game being against Lakeland High School, resulting in a 9-2 victory. Their next game is on April 29 and is against an unannounced opponent. Details on previous games are all available at MaxPreps.com. The varsity players, led by head coach Darren Trainor, include Zack Bambacigno, Peyton Bonebrake, Jackson Casey, Ty Collins, Luke Crosby, Jayden Estlund, Carson Henson, Jaxon Holthaus, Grady Kennedy, Guy Krasselt, Zavier McFee, Dylan Miller, Landon Ortiz, Grady Peterson, Keatan Phillips, Isaiah Raines, Dallas Richardson, Brighton Schumacher, River Stamper, Austin Topp.
Track
Spring has sprung, the spikes are on, and the LHS track team is nearing the finish line! Coach Alex Rhea said that there has been a lot of growth in the athletes this season. Not only have many athletes improved from the beginning of this year, but also from past years, he said. According to athletic.net, Cole Arlint (12) is currently top in the state for javelin, and Avery Lathen (10) is top in the state for long jump. The next meet is on Friday, April 25, at Timberlake High School, and the next home meet is on May 1. Athlete-specific information can be found on athletic.net.
