The Lewiston High School SPED department hosted a Next Steps Resource Fair on Wednesday, April 30, from 3-6 p.m. The fair was open to all students seeking reassurance about life after high school.
There were numerous resources, such as local support agencies and non-profit organizations, to help students with and without disabilities understand their importance in their future careers and journey through college.
“People often assume that if someone has a disability or medical issue, they cannot do certain things—but that’s just not true. We are here to break that mindset,” said Jessica Scott, an LHS special education teacher.
Vendors like Care Connection, Chas Clinic, ELEVATE, and the Sequoia Counseling Services were in attendance to offer home care, primary care, and women’s health care services, as well as to organize fun activities and provide mental health support to youth.
The Next Steps Resource Fair aims to offer the valley numerous health resources to help support their next steps in life.
“If you have ever wondered what’s out there after graduation, this is the place to find out,” said Scott.
