Matt Pancheri is stepping down from his head football coach position at LHS after serving here for eight years. He plans on moving to Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho, and taking a coaching position there.
Pancheri will be replaced by Zane Hobart, the previous head coach at Kendrick High School. Pancheri shared great optimism regarding Hobart.
“Zane Hobart will be a great coach for the Bengals. Lewiston is lucky to get such an experienced and successful coach,” said Pancheri.
Pancheri said he is proud to have been able to coach at LHS for so long, and he’s proud of the impact he has been able to make on his players’ lives. His legacy of toughness has been able to shape the futures of many kids.
“I hope that former players have learned lessons about toughness and persistence from football and apply that in their lives as they graduate and become adults,” he said.
He added that the most rewarding part of coaching has been seeing the players grow into adults as successful community members.
“I love to see former players graduating from college, getting married, finding careers, buying homes, and starting families,” he said. “I have always felt my job has been to help them develop the tools that help them be successful for themselves, their family, and the community.”
