Lewiston High School’s Homecoming theme, “Purple Reign,” is based on Prince’s album, Purple Rain.
The album was released in 1984 and is the late artist’s sixth studio album. The album includes songs that are now classics: “When Doves Cry,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Purple Rain,” “I Would Die 4 U,” “Take Me With U,” “The Beautiful Ones,” “Computer Blue,” “Darling Nikki,” and “Baby I’m A Star”.
Purple Rain was also turned into a film featuring the songs, Prince’s previous albums, and performances.
The album was ranked 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time by Rolling Stone in 2020, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2011.
