STEM career night set for Dec. 13
Amy Chase, science teacher at LHS, will hold a STEM career night for all high school students from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the LHS science building.
The event will host eight local professionals from Science, Technology, Engineering and Math:
Scott Putnam, Idaho Department of Fish and Game
Dustin Hill, software engineer
Craig Roach, U.S. Forest Service
Craig Hall, Clearwater Paper
Deseure DeBerry, University of Idaho
Greg Obray, Lewiston Orthopedics
Glen Riley, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories
During the event, students will learn about the different techniques that go into a STEM profession and the skills that are needed to perform proficiently. There will be interactive demonstrations to gain hands-on experience. STEM opportunities are actively promoted by many federal agencies and are viewed as having the best opportunities for job growth, according to Chase.
