Clubs prepare for a new year of activities at LHS
FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America), with Melinda Pals, adviser. This is a Student Leadership Organization that meets on Friday at 2:30 in room 216. Their current plans are to attend the BASIC conference at the Red Lion on Oct. 15.
National Honors Society, with Jamie Bakker, adviser. Blood drives will be in October and January. YWCA benefit will hopefully be in November or December and a second one in the spring. There will be two philanthropies, dates are yet to be decided.
Skills USA with, Terri Varnado, adviser. There will be a fundraiser this fall called the Spookin’ Boo Haunted House that will be held at the Elks Lodge. All year they will be selling Bengal Logos and Meat Sticks at all home football games. Later this year there will also be a mug press where they will be printing custom designs on mugs. This Valentine’s Day they will be selling crush grams. Their state competition will be in Nampa ID. April 4-6 and Nationals will be in Kentucky.
DECA with, John Potter, adviser. The DECA interview competition will be held at LHS in late November. Regionals will be in CDA on Mon. Dec.10. State is in Boise, ID. Feb. 24-26. Nationals are in Orlando FL. April 27 to March 1. Fundraisers will include drive one for your school at Ford, Sunday, Sept. 23, Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough sales, and Business Sponsorships for Nationals.
BPA (Business Professionals of America) with, Jenifer Stubbers, adviser. There will be a leadership conference at the Red Lion Oct. 14-15 that will be overnight. Regional Competition will take place at LCSC in January. The state leadership conference will be in Boise March 6-10. National Leadership Conference will be in Anaheim, CA. May 6-11. For fundraising they will be doing Bengal Prints, printing various things from posters to calendars to senior night sport posters.
Debate with, James Silvestri, adviser. There are no current plans for debate as there are no other schools interested in competing.
HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) with, Debbie Wassmuth, adviser. Officer elections will be happening soon. They will be attending the Leadership Conference Oct. 14-15.
