Weather delays softball season
The softball season was scheduled to start March 12 when the teams were to take on Lakeland High School in Lakeland. When the rain started falling and never stopped they were forced to cancel both the JV and varsity games.
Two days later when the teams returned to school, Monday, March 14, expecting to start their season off again against Moscow, they received the same disappointing news that the games were canceled due to wet fields.
March 19 the Bengals took on Sandpoint in a double header, for their season opening game. The Bengals were tied when they took charge and and scored one more run than Sandpoint, ended up winning 4-3.
“Yeah, they gave me a heart attack on that last run, a 4-3 win over Sandpoint with a pretty good pitcher, said Coach Young, after they won. It was tied 3-3 and they pulled out there at the end and really came through”
In the second game the Bengals were not so lucky, with a 13-12 loss to the Bulldogs in the seventh inning.
The March 22 game against Clarkston was canceled, due to rain.
