LHS recieves donation
Camille Lame donated $6,000 to the students of LHS March 22 to fund the creation of the new L on the Lewiston Hill in memory of her son Phil Lame.
Her husband Warren Lame graduated from LHS in 1941 and was part of the first group that started the L on the hill. He went on to serve in World War II and teach math at LHS at Sacajawea Junior High.
Their eldest son Phil Lame followed in his father’s footsteps to also teach math at LHS. He was the senior class adviser and was very involved with the L on the Hill. In 2001, he was named Lewiston School District teacher of the year. Phil Lame passed away in 2010 at age 62.
According to LHS Librarian Mary Ann Funk, who first received word of the donation, one request Camille Lame had was, “You kids get busy right away getting that L on the hill because I am 91 years old and I want to see it completed.”
