HOSA state bound

Members of HOSA at LHS will  compete at the state level in Boise April 6-8, taking on other schools in the areas of controversial medical debates and health careers.
The state competition has many events, including knowledge tests on medical terminology and nutrition, tri-board displays on health careers and debates on topics such as biological medicine. One HOSA member, LHS senior Zach Coppess, will participate in the extemporaneous writing event, where he will have one hour to write in depth on a topic with no prior preparation.
Along with state competitions, the HOSA club has other events throughout the year. With Tuesday meetings starting in the fall, the club participates in activities such as community service and fundraising. In the past, HOSA students have made blankets for nursing home residents and have partnered up with the local health department to help spread health awareness throughout the school and community, according to HOSA adviser Debbie Wassmuth.
