LCSC Welcomes a New Mascot!

On April 6, Lewis-Clark State College welcomed a new mascot: a wolverine.

According to the Lewis-Clark State College website, “After a long and thorough student-prompted campus initiative, LC State…will develop a physical mascot.” LC States student government expressed interest in adopting a new mascot in 2024-25 and assigned polls and research, the wolverine proved to be the favorite.

Representing its resilience, smarts, nativity,  and “small but mighty” ideology, the wolverine epitomizes the general spirit of LCSC aswell as symbolizes the Native American history in the community. ASB LCSC President, Rayne Martinez, shared her excitement.

“I’m excited to see what the next steps are. I think the mascot will help strengthen and portray the identity of LC State,“ she said.

By developing a new mascot, LCSC aims to drive student engagement and boost school spirit.  A small group of students, faculty, and administrators is working on developing the mascot, with the hope of releasing it as early as next fall.

Cynthia Pemberton who is president at LC State described the true meaning of the change.

“We are not changing our Warrior identity,” she explained in an article on the LCSC mascot page,“We proudly remain Warriors and now have another resource to promote this fact.”
