Callista Lightfoot has been coming to LHS for all four years since her freshman year. She’s involved in band, has a strong liking for art, and her plans after high school consist of “Getting a job and making money,” Lightfoot said.

Lightfoot’s math teacher Brinley Carlson, describes her as “eccentric.”

“She’s super kind to everybody, but she also speaks her mind; if somebody’s not being a good person, she will say it,” Carlson said.

Throughout the year, Carlson has seen huge growth from Lightfoot.

“First time I had her in class, she didn’t do the best, but definitely from a math perspective, I have seen her knowledge grow,” Carlson said.

Lightfoot’s Spanish teacher, Charity Egland, used the word “genuine” to describe Lightfoot.

“She’s genuinely kind, genuinely curious, genuinely artistic, genuinely creative, genuinely unique, and genuinely trying to learn and make sure she does things the right way,” Egland said.

Egland went to say that Lightfoot is an extremely kind individual who cares about the people around her, including her teachers.

“She’s completely herself. She’s the real deal, she thinks about things very deeply, and she’s really genuinely a kind human,” Egland said.

Egland has only known Lightfoot this school year, but said she has also seen much growth from her throughout the year.

“I see her as an adult who will do good things in the world. I see her as ready to leave high school and put something good out there,” Egland said.

Both Carlson and Egland said the most memorable thing about Lightfoot is her drawings.

“She always draws something for me,” Egland said.

“She doodles on the papers of her drawings of little fairies and stuff,” said Carlson.

As for her experience at LHS, someone who’s inspired Lightfoot in her four years of high school is Katie Wren.

“She’s really nice, sweet, and just friendly to everyone,” said Lightfoot.

She had this advice to underclassmen just before graduation: “Don’t get lost in the hallways.”
