Lewiston High School and Orchards Lanes have helped provide a team for student bowlers, with volunteer coaches sharing their knowledge with participants. Ryan Knieriem, Randy Buttenhoff, and Dan Lovejoy volunteer their time to young athletes, coaching them throughout the season in hopes of advancing to the state level.
The Idaho state tournament took place on Feb. 17, 2026, in Twin Falls and Burley, Idaho. The state’s bowling results included the LHS boys taking fourth place, losing to Minico. The LHS girls took second place, losing to Twin Falls, according to tournamentbowl.com.
Kaydence Medina, a Sophomore, has been an LHS bowler since her freshman year.
She explained that in an average bowling tournament is where, “you get there early in the morning and study aim patterns.”
In 2025, the Lewiston girls’ bowling team won the state championship. The LHS team sent eight boys and six girls to compete; they returned with four top-16 singles finishers and a state title for the girls’ team. The girls’ team bowled a total of 1710 points. Boys’ athlete Wyatt Hall bowled a total of 989 points in singles, only a few off, placing in the top 10.
The Lewiston athletes who competed at state for bowling were Andrea Baird, Michael Clifford, Nina Cuthbert, Micheal Earl, Taryn Fowler, Gavin Frisbee, Bryce Hall, Wyatt Hall, Chase Isbelle, Colton Kernan, Jaxson Knieriem, Dakota Knieriem, Jacob Louis, Jaci Louis, Mason Long, Kaydence Medina, Max Mendenhall, John Millard, Ruger Nuxoll, Riley Saldecke, Jesyka Sarbacher, Kaden Scout, and Kyle Rivera.
