Bengals run through to state

 

 This track season was one to remember, filled with long practices, determination and unforgettable moments from hardworking athletes. The varsity team competed at state May 15-16, where LHS boys placed second overall and the girls placed 13th. 

“Every day was a highlight,” said Coach Mike Jones. “Everybody wants to get better, and we’re improving by taking everyone’s mark at the beginning and comparing it to the end marks.” 

 Varsity men competing were Brandon Brower, DJ Wilkerson, Hunter Edelen, Trip Eckert, Dawson Bernatz, Bryce Sifers, Renin Jackson, Parker Bagley and Reid Krahn. Results included the following: 

  • Shotput: Bagley, 1st place
  • 110-meter hurdles: Eckert, 2nd place
  • 300-meter hurdles: Sifers, 3rd place
  • 4×100 relay: Bernatz, Wilkerson, Edelen and  Brower. 3rd place
  • 4×200 relay: Bernatz, Edelen, Wilkerson and  Brower. 3rd place
  • 4×400 relay: Jackson, Sifers, Edelen and Wilkerson. 3rd place
  • Discus: Bagley, 5th place
  • 100 and 200 meters: 5th place  

   Varsity women competing were Addisyn Storm, Marlee Eckert, Mia Mellinger, Trinity Bonebrake, Emmy Roberts and Aliah Winterbottom. 

  • 800 meters: Storm, 2nd place
  • Shotput: Roberts 3rd place
  • 4×400: Eckert, Storm, Mellinger and Bonebrake, 4th place
  • Discus: Roberts, 6th place
  • Long jump: Winterbottom, 6th place
  • Triple jump: Winterbottom, 8th place
  • High jump: Winterbottom, 9th place
