Softball season is going, going, going, gone

The LHS softball season ended May 8 after the varsity district tournament in Lakeland.

The season started in early March, and on May 8 the varsity team competed at districts against Sandpoint. The final score was 8-19, with Sandpoint taking the win.

Adison Johnson is a standout sophomore on the varsity team.

“Our season went pretty good. We won some, lost some, and then we went to districts,” she said. “We lost the first round, but it was overall a pretty good season.”

The varsity team won seven games and lost 15. Their away games included Moscow, Lake City and Lakeland.

Johnson’s favorite things about softball are building connections with people, playing with new people and learning new things. She said her favorite things about her coaches, Jesse and Julie Roehl, are their funny personalities, how players could go to them for anything and how they made softball fun while also making sure they did their best.

Some notable accomplishments of the varsity team included Corrina Scoville, hitting a home run at districts; Morgan Thayer, reaching base with one run, one double and one RBI; and Johnson hitting one double and one RBI, according to MaxPreps.com.

The varsity team includes Morgan Thayer, Darby Litchfield, Shelby Arellano, Leah Erbst, Ava Jo Thorson, Laila Hernandez, Callie Fisbeck, Addison Jordan, Adison Johnson, Brilan Luthy, Dakota Robins, Hailey Robins, Kinley Orton, Corrina Scoville and Peyton Zumwalt.
