Cora Lott was nominated by Bengal’s Purr staff for their senior features. Cora is involved in multiple things at LHS.
“I’m involved in golf, key club, I’ve been in garden club, I’m in NHS (National Honor Society),” said Lott. Lott’s teachers speak highly of her, highlighting her accomplishments over the past four years. Jamie Bakker, the AP Language teacher at LHS, shared her perspective on Lott.
“Cora is a wonderful person with a positive attitude and great work ethic,” said Bakker. Bakker has known Lott since her junior year at Lewiston, and describes her as “a great writer and a bright student.” Lott also touched on what she thought she would’ve done differently throughout high school, and how it helped her grow as a senior, and according to Bakker, it seemed accurate.
“I wish I wasn’t so scared to step out of my comfort zone the first couple of years, because I feel like my senior year is when I was actually able to be myself, and I cared too much in my first 3 years, which ruined some things,” Said Lott. Being able to experience good and bad things during her time here at LHS helped Lott blossom into what all her teachers said she was: Compassionate.
Bakker had some words to say about Cora coming out of her shell, as did other teachers. “Once she gained more confidence, she really took flight and excelled,” said Bakker.
Jacob Dyer, the AP Literature teacher at LHS, spoke highly of Cora’s work ethic and her ability to achieve at high levels. He also says that Cora is likable among peers, and connects really well with just about anyone.
“Cora is so likable, and people flock to her, and you see that in the classroom, which is interesting because she is also quiet and reserved,” said Dyer.
Alicia Hasenoehrl, the Spanish three and four teacher at LHS, has known Cora since her sophomore year. “Cora stood out from other students because of her compassion for others and her eagerness to understand each concept fully- not just get a good grade,” said Hasenoehrl.
Cora has found that the key to enjoying high school was to stay on top of her grades and always try her best. She plans to attend the University of Idaho in Moscow, where she will study secondary education and become a science teacher.
“When she completes college, she will enter the education world and make great connections with her students,” said Bakker. “We will be lucky to have Cora in the education profession.”
Cora connects with most of her teachers inside and outside of school hours.
“I have a lot of memories with Cora. I have enjoyed all our little chats after school and hearing about her life plans. I cannot wait to see what she achieves and who she becomes,” Said Hasenoehrl.
