Purr senior editors say farewell

Purr senior editors say farewell

To the Bengal’s Purr cubs,

Being the Editor-in-Chief of The Bengal’s Purr has taught me more than just how to meet deadlines. It has taught me how to lead and listen, while also improving my writing skills. You guys are truly inspiring, and I’m thrilled to leave the Purr in such passionate hands.

One piece of advice I would leave with upcoming Purr students is not to be afraid of sharing your opinions and passions through the paper. That’s what makes the Purr so special. The Purr itself is not special — you, the individuals, are what make it so diverse and interesting. Wherever you end up, give it your full effort and enjoy this time while it lasts.

As Ferris Bueller says in the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Cherish these moments with your friends and classmates, and don’t let them slip away. Hopefully the experience and bonds formed at late work sessions and time spent with the Purr crew will stick with you for the rest of your life.

Sincerely, your friend, leader, and Editor-in-Chief,

Sam Huff

Hey cubs,

Being part of The Bengal’s Purr has shown me that I can, in fact, be what I’ve always wanted to be. When I first walked into the J1 class, I never imagined I would one day be the Features Editor, and I definitely never expected to make the friendships that I did. Journalism was more than just a class to me; it was the place where I found my voice. I met my best friend in Journalism, and I created bonds that I now know will last a lifetime. The past few years being involved with the Purr have been the best of my life. I’m so glad that I took the risk and joined it when I did. The Bengal’s Purr isn’t just a “school newspaper” — it’s a whole family.

Remember that it’s okay to be yourself, and that it’s okay to believe in what you believe in, and to write about that. If you’re truly inspired by something and want to write about it, DO IT!!! Talk to as many people as you can, be whoever you want to be, and don’t let others’ opinions decide your future. As I told Mrs. Egland, “I walked into J1 extremely shy and embarrassed to be myself. I’m walking out of Journalism as a Features Editor, proud and more confident in myself than I could have ever imagined.”

You are all amazing in your own special ways. Even if you don’t see it yet, you will soon. I cannot wait to see what each of you accomplishes after high school. Thank you for letting me leave with wonderful memories. I will miss all of you so much!!

I’m leaving my Features editor spot to someone great. I know you’re going to do great things.

Sincerely, your 2026 senior and

Features Editor,

Alicia Iorg
