With a win over Sandpoint 72-54 on Feb 24, Lewiston varsity boys basketball is 20-3 on the season. The team ranked No. 6 in the state of Idaho, according to Maxpreps.com as of March 1. This means they will head to the state tournament for the second straight year.
Zavier McFee is a forward on the team.
“I am most excited for having the opportunity to go play state with this team,” McFee said. “Our strengths this year are that we are a lot bigger and more developed than we were last year.”
Their two most recent games had big implications, both being Conference tournament games. In the first game on Feb. 20, they took a dominant win over Moscow 66-43. In the Sandpoint game on Feb. 24, they won with a second-half comeback.
As of press time, their next game will be in the state tournament on March 5, where they will be playing Burley at noon Mountain Time. According to Maxpreps.com, the full tournament will be live on NFHS Network.
