Bengal track runners excel in first two meets

  Saturday March 19, the LHS track team returned to Sweeney track for the second meet in the Lewiston track season. The boys took third overall while the girls took fifth.
  The boys’ placers that day included Kempton Sharp, who won first overall in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 23.52. Austin Byrer placed first in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:27. He also earned first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:47. Joey Perez captured third in the same event with a time of 10:12. The boys 4×400 relay team placed third with a time of 3:36. The 2-2-4-8 meter relay team (200, 200,400,800) took first with a time of 3:48. The distance relay team took second with a time of 11:11. The final boys placer was Robbie Van Idour who got second in shot put, throwing a 49-01.
  The girls took fifth overall, tying with Post Falls.  Placers included Haylee weeks, who got third in the 100-meter sprint with a time of 13.39. Katie Havens, who had a big meet, took third in the 400-meter sprint with a time of 1:02. She also took first in the long jump, landing a 16-08, and in the triple jump at 34-04. The girls 4×400-meter relay team placed first with a time of 4:21. Mallory Bernatz captured second in the high jump jumping a 5-04.
