Tennis season opens

Tennis season opened March 12, but due to a cancellation of games, JV.’s season was delayed. Varsity’s first game March 12 at LHS was also cancelled for weather, but its second game that same day started the season off against Pullman at home.
“I feel as though [the cancellations] really take away from our practice. that our first game matches were supposed to set us up for what’s to come,” said sophomore JV player Olivia Crickmon. “We have a tournament on Saturday [March 26], and we haven’t even played a regular match.”
The length of the season will vary for the two teams. Varsity will first work toward the Capital Classic tournament in Boise April 29 and 30. JV will play its final game on May 9. Varsity players expect to play at  Regionals May 13 and 14, with the location still to be determined. Those who qualify for state will compete in Weippe, Idaho, at Timberline High School May 20 and 21.
